SaorEd online education for refugees

Launch on Jan 14th at 11am

Doras, Dignity Partnership, and New Horizon invite you to attend the online launch of SaorEd, a new platform that provides free access to education and training courses for people from refugee and migrant backgrounds in Ireland. The launch takes place online at 11am on Friday, January 14th, and the link to register for it is https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/saored-online-learning-platform-launch-tickets-239893657387.

SaorEd is built on the Kiron online learning platform which has been designed specifically for refugees and underserved communities. Initial offerings will include English language courses, information technology (IT) skills, healthcare, and career preparation courses. The courses will be mostly in English, with some in Arabic.

Speakers at the launch event will include people involved in the specification, development and pilot testing of SaorEd, including some still living in Direct Provision. We are also pleased to announce that Enda O'Neill, Head of UNHCR Ireland, will give his reflections on the wider context relating to this new initiative. In addition, there will be a virtual tour of the system at the launch, and an opportunity will be provided for you to offer your initial feedback. We are particularly interested in hearing what additional courses should be offered, and how the system can be further developed.

We look forward to seeing you at the launch.
